NSW: State govt offers grants to ecourage active lifestyle
SYDNEY, Dec 8 AAP - The NSW government is offering $100,000 in grants to encourage
organisations to get people more physically active.
NSW Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation Sandra Nori today said funding of up
to $2,000 was available for projects which increased physical activity for Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islanders, older adults, people with disabilities and culturally diverse
backgrounds, and children.
Ms Nori said the Building Active Communities grants were an attempt to combat Australia's
disturbing obesity rates.
"We need to encourage people to be physically active every day," she said.
Community groups are encouraged to apply for the grants at the Department of Tourism,
Sport and Recreation.
